The origin of Halloween is "druida", although its name is Christian: drift of All Hallows “Éen” or day eve of All the Saints. The customs had their origin in the celebrations of New Year of druids and the Romans. Like in other festivals of New Year, in this date the deads returned to be between the alive ones. The druids ones did human sacrifices and of animals, burning these lasts in cages. In the Average Age still black cats burned themselves to believe them friends of the witches. In the United States were the first that began to celebrate this date the small communities of Irish Catholics in the middle of century XIX. The pumpkins cut in form of grotesques and illuminated faces with candles on the inside, originated themselves in the games of the Irish children who used Popes and nabs for such aim. The name of these pumpkins, jack-or-lantern, is derived from the legend of a called drunkard Jack, who with tricks obtained that the devil promised to him not to return to persecute its soul. According to the legend, when dying they did not let it enter the sky by mean and thirsty, so it had to go away to hell and the devil condemned it to “vagar” by the world until the day of the Final Judgment. The devil threw an ignited coal to him so that it could see in the dark, and Jack put it within nabs that was had been eating.
